Disappointment

SPOILER SPOILER SPOIER SPOILER SPOILER

So I watched Transformers ROTF the other day. I think I've got negative comments in my head regarding the movie ever since I watched it. And thus, here I am blogging about it.

Overall, it didn't feel like "Transformers". It felt more like a movie with lots of giant robots. There wasn't much "transforming" going around. Even the character in the movie title didn't transform.

Seriously, I felt that this whole movie was not really made for grown-ups, but for KIDS. To help Hasbro SELL TOYS. I guess I wasn't hyped about watching the movie because of the toys. They had too much crap on the shelves! Seriously WTF. A toy car with a picture of a robot underneath it! Cacat Giler.

Hell, A LOT of the toys they're selling are for kids. Like the "Bumper Battlers", cute-ish cars that, once it hit something, pops up to reveal a "robot". Sheesh. And let's look at the movie: Here in Australia, it's rated M. I think that's for teens and above? And the scenes in the movie, if you ask me, I'd say they're inappropriate for kids. The good guys destroy the bad guys in hand-to-hand combat. Optimus dismembering Decepticons with his blades. Bumblebee skinning a cat. And plenty of Decepticon spines (backbone) flying out of their bodies.

So Megatron killed Jazz in the first movie. Just ONE single lost Autobot life. Even at the beginning of this second movie, we're told that the Autobots are "hunting down every remaining Decepticon". Like WTF, you're the good guys!

I'm all for mechanical violence, but damn. For one thing, it's the good guys causing the killing. And secondly, SOMEONE made the stupid F'ing mistake of making the character models so freaking complicated that when two robots grapple, you can't see what's going on.

Heck, when lots of them are fighting all at once, you can't tell what's going on! You can't even tell who is on which side!

Tak pasal2, they put in Bonecrusher (The minesweeping vehicle that Optimus killed at the highway in the first movie). Not the robot, the vehicle. And he didn't even do anything, just jalan2 kat desert while everyone's being attacked.

I also noticed they did a lot of reusing 3D Character Models. Blackout died in the first movie. I think they just reused him in this one as a "generic helicopter Decepticon". And then there's the Constructicons. There's so many of them! There's supposed to be only about 5 or 6 of them! But nooooo, they have CLONES! There's supposed to be ONLY 5 or 6 and then they COMBINE. In this one, they already combined and there's still other constructicons fighting individually. And what's with the wrecking balls balls?! (ok, that part was sorta amusing...)

Agak sedih about Soundwave though. He's just stuck up in space hugging a satelite.

The most entertaining Transformer was perhaps the old British dude. Because everyone else lacked personality. Except that little guy that the humans adopted as a pet. Every other freaking Transformer lacked personality. Heck, some of them even lacked screen time. Sideswipe (silver colored Autobot with blades on his arms) looked cool, but we didn't see much of him. Jolt (a blue car) was important near the end of the movie but we didn't see him at all before that scene near the end. And the 3 female motorcycle transformers. What was that all about?

Then there's the whole Matrix of Leadership issue. My God. WHY?! If they called it something else, I wouldn't have minded. And why the hell is a Transformer Relic so tiny that a human can hold it in one hand?! At least the Cube in the first movie was able to "transfom" into a compact size. Dammit, it spoils the whole epicness of the old 1988 Transfomers movie. In 1988, the Matrix had the power to destroy a freaking planet-size transformer. In this one, it had the power to bring back a dead transformer AND power up a device to destroy the universe!

Rumusan: I liked ROTF as much as I liked LOTR. In other words: it's a big movie, but I'm just not that into it.

Actually The Fallen did transform. He started out as a Decepticon Tyrant early in the movie and transformed into Optimus's little bitch at the end.

That's... actually true. Quite a sucky thing to transform into though.
