24.5.10

22-23 May 2010. A Good Weekend.

I actually woke up this morning thinking it was still the weekend and wondering which game to play first.

Then I realised it was Monday.

The weekend was so full of activity that last Friday felt so far away. Spent so much money, bought so many things, played so many games, ate so much food at so many places.

Thanks to WiiHacks.com, my Wii is now able to play downloaded Virtual Console games, which pretty much means it's now an emulator, which means it plays games from previous consoles from NES (micro genius), SNES, N64, and some arcade games they call Neo-Geo. It is these games that took up all my time on Friday.

Recently, I discovered that I am not able to wake up at any other time besides between 930am-1030am during weekends. It gets annoying because: 1) I cannot repay my sleep debt accumulated during the weekdays. 2) I can't start my weekends early.

Anyways, we all went to Lowyat on Saturday to buy stuff. Once again, Alia has revealed one of the reasons I love her so much: her haggling ability. We got a Wii Classic Controller for rm105 when the price tag said 199. :D ...... Come to think of it, that was the only haggling we did that resulted in a purchase. Everything else, we bought at normal price because it was already cheap.

Eventually, I went underbudget and ended up buying something from Graffiti Toys at Times Square. :P (Weekend Parking: rm3 first hour, +2 every hour after. Max: rm10)

Later, we went to Wangsa Walk where we found an AF equivalent. Ate Popeye's and discovered it's only good for its scones. We were originally looking for a tailor, but ended up going to one near the Melawati house. Dropped by the house after that, and later stopped by the cheap snacks shop near there.

Then we went to Alia's place, bartered my hardware from Low Yat for Alia's mom and headed off to IoI mall for Shrek 4. We got there at 9 for an 11pm movie. Went to Daiso, an awesome Japanese shop where everything is RM5. Items sold include a stainless steel soap, a broom with a foldable head, magnet stickers, 100-pc origami paper, realistic-looking toy bugs, and more!

We still had an hour til the movie, so we ate at a place we were sure to stay open til late: TGI Fridays. I had a salad. I think this was the first time I ordered a salad for myself. I have also discovered that I get extreme mood swings when I am not fed. I say "when I am not fed" because I am not necessarily hungry at the time.

I'm not sure if it's a good thing or bad if this becomes a trend, but after Pixar's uber-emotional Up, Shrek 4 seems to be trying their hand at being full of emotion as well. I didn't watch any trailers before watching the movie, though I was spoiled by the radio where someone said that "after watching the movie, you will appreciate more of what you already have" or something like that. Which is true. Parallel dimensions tend to do that I suppose. (spoiler! :P) At the end of the movie, they showed clips from previous Shrek movies. Strangely, they didn't show much (or any at all) of the third movie. But it's definitely a nice end to the series.

Yesterday, Sunday, was spent mostly on games. I started on No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle and would like to focus more on it, since I was quite obsessed with the first one before. What's not to like about a violent vidoegame involving lightsabers and an almost nonsensical storyline? The characters also tend to break the fourth wall often. Also, the game saves when the main character takes a dump. This is just one of those "concepts that are so stupid, they can be considered genius" things.

Then I brought the missus out for groceries, yada yada yada, then we went back to my place to show her some Wii. Later, pasar malam Bangsar. The pasar malam is quite small now compared to how it was before. Bought murtabak (quite big for 3 bucks. Quite spicy though.), went to that mango shop where Alia bought yogurt or something, and ended with some oversugared drinks at Papparich.

This pretty much sums up my weekend. Boleh dihuraikan lagi, but why bother. :P
